For CSEA Retirees

Dental Benefits

Retiree dental benefits are available from CSEA Employee Benefits Fund. 

You are eligible if:

  • You retired directly from New York State
  • You were covered as an active CSEA NYS employee on the date of your retirement.
  • You had continuous dental coverage under a fund-sponsored dental plan OR another dental plan. 
  • You must elect retiree dental plan coverage no greater than 90 days from your termination date or when COBRA ends.

 

Empire Health Direct Payment Plan:
  • All New York State employees who are enrolled in health insurance are automatically sent enrollment information on the GHI Retiree Dental Plan at the time of your retirement. 
  • You must enroll no later than 90 days post-retirement, or immediately following the end of COBRA coverage. You will receive an enrollment form and summary of benefits after you retire, or at the end of the COBRA period. This plan is administered by Emblem Health (GHI).

There are 3 other dental plans to choose from: 
  • Pearl Carroll Choice 1 (CIGNA)
  • Pearl Carroll Choice 2 (Metropolitan Life)
  • CSEA Retiree Reduced Fee Dental Program (offered through CSEA) 

You must be a dues-paying CSEA retiree member to be eligible for these benefits.

Vision Benefits

Retiree vision benefits are available from the CSEA Employee Benefits Fund (EBF). 

You must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Retire directly from employment with New York State
  • Were covered as an active CSEA NYS employee on the date of your retirement by the EBF and were eligible for vision benefits.
  • You had continuous vision coverage from retirement under a fund-sponsored dental plan OR *another dental plan acceptable by EBF. (This applies if you did not elect EBF COBRA or EBF Retiree Programs immediately at retirement and are contacting the fund after you have retired and elected other coverage i.e. Pearl Carroll.)
  • Participants must elect retiree vision plan coverage with EBF no greater than 90 days for their termination date or COBRA ending.

 

There are also 2 other vision plans to choose from: 
  • Pearl Carroll
  • Davis Vision 

You must be a dues-paying CSEA retiree member to be eligible for these benefits.
