How do I know what account my direct deposit is going into?
You can check your pay stub on Payroll Online to confirm the bank and account for your deposit.
Where will my travel reimbursement be deposited?
Any travel reimbursement funds will be deposited into the same bank account that your pay goes into.
When will my direct deposit start?
It typically takes two pay periods for your pay to be deposited into the bank account you noted on your form.
Can I change or enroll in direct deposit online?
Not at this time, you must file a paper form with the BSC.
How do I reactivate my direct deposit after returning from a leave of absence?
If your bank account is already on file, send an email to the BSC asking to restart your direct deposit. If you have a new bank account complete the form below and send it to us.
Pay Stubs
Where can I find my N number (N#)?
Your N number is located in the top right screen of your LATS-NY account. You can also find it on your pay stub - it's labeled as your "Employee ID."
When will I get my first paycheck?
New York State has a two pay period lag so it may be as long as five weeks before you receive your first check when you are new to the state.
What is "Year to Date (YTD)" pay on my pay stub?
Year to Date is all the earnings you have received from New York State service for the current calendar year. Here is more information about how to read your pay stub.
When will I receive my W-2?
Typically these are mailed out in late January and delivery will depend upon your mailing address. If you need it earlier than that, you can visit NYSPO and download a copy starting in mid-January.
What if I lose or accidentally destroy my paycheck?
Please contact the Payroll team (contact information below) to request a new check and we will stop payment on the old check at the same time.
How do I change the mailing address on my paycheck?
Complete a Personal Data Change (PDC) form and send it to us by email, mail or fax (contact information below).
Timing of Payouts
When will I receive my union raise?
Each union is different. When you receive the email announcement about the raise, check it carefully as the effective date will be listed.
When will I receive my lump sum payout after I retire or leave my state job?
If you are retiring, your lump sum check will generally arrive after your final regular check. If you are leaving the state without retiring (resign or terminate), your payout will generally arrive after two full pay periods have passed since you left the state.
These are processed the pay period AFTER your final timecard. Please note that all timecards must be submitted and approved before the lump sum payment can be processed.
When will I receive payment for the overtime I worked?
Generally, you will receive overtime in the second paycheck following your supervisor's approval of your timesheet.

Why is my paycheck amount different?
There are several reasons why you may receive a different amount in your paycheck including:
- A change in your tax withholdings
- A change in your insurance coverage
- Working overtime in the last pay period
- If your negotiating unit changes your salary grade
- An annual performance review
- Retirement
- A change of union or position
- Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA)
- Deferred compensation
- Flexspend Program
- Loans or arrears
